A new partnership is emerging in Ukraine to bolster entrepreneurship, innovative development, and economic recovery.

The necessary document was signed recently in Kyiv, outlining collaborative efforts in revitalizing small and medium-sized enterprises, sharing expertise in the digital economy, sustainable manufacturing, logistics, and the development of industrial parks.

Representatives from the Kyiv City Administration, the Leipzig City Hall, business associations from both cities, and international experts participated in the signing.

Kyiv serves as the main hub for Ukrainian entrepreneurship, where significant decisions are made that impact the entire country.

«We believe it is essential for strategic business initiatives to collaborate with partners who share our values and envision Ukraine's future within the European community», emphasized Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Administration Hanna Starostenko.

The signing of the Memorandum with Leipzig marks a logical progression towards economic development.

«Today, it is crucial to support small and medium enterprises, as their recovery will influence not just Kyiv, but all of Ukraine. Our partnership with Leipzig opens up new avenues for investment, technology sharing, and joint educational programs for entrepreneurs», added Hanna Starostenko.

Key areas of collaboration include:

  • supporting business recovery in Kyiv and attracting investments;
  • joint business incubation and startup acceleration programs;
  • developing eco-entrepreneurship and circular economy;
  • digital transformation and automation for small businesses;
  • hosting business forums, exhibitions, and training programs.

«Kyiv and Leipzig are not just sister cities. Leipzig has supported Kyiv since the first days of the war, and we are sincerely grateful for this assistance. Today, we are laying the groundwork for strategic entrepreneurship partnerships. Leipzig's city hall understands how important it is to support Ukrainian businesses, as they will be the foundation for the swift recovery of the capital and the economy of the entire country», stressed Volodymyr Kostiakov, Director of the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the Kyiv City Administration.

The implementation of the Memorandum's provisions will allow Kyiv entrepreneurs to gain access to new markets, financing tools, training programs, and technologies. The launch of the first pilot project — the Kyiv-Leipzig Business School for young entrepreneurs — is planned for the near future.

The collaboration with Leipzig is part of Kyiv's systemic international strategy for post-war economic recovery, developing the entrepreneurial environment, and integrating into the European economic community.
