The Ukrainian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Defense Valeriy Churkin, visited Tokyo at the invitation of Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani to participate in the DSEI Japan 2025 exhibition.

DSEI Japan is a significant international platform for showcasing defense capabilities, technological innovations, and strategic dialogue among partner nations. This year’s exhibition brought together over 250 companies from 35 countries and delegations from 40 nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Canada, and Poland.

For the first time in history, Ukraine was officially represented at this exhibition, featuring both the Ministry of Defense delegation and six enterprises from the Ukrainian defense industry.

The Ukrainian delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of defense ministries, government structures, and leading arms manufacturers, discussing further steps to deepen cooperation, technology exchange, and mutual defense capabilities enhancement.

Ministry representatives also visited the Central Military Hospital of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, where injured Ukrainian defenders are receiving treatment. Ukrainian soldiers were presented with departmental awards from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The delegation learned about the treatment and rehabilitation conditions, spoke with hospital staff, and held discussions with the leadership of medical institutions regarding the further development of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation in military medicine. They met with the commander of the central military hospital.

“Ukraine is grateful to our Japanese partners for their support and humanity. In a time when the world views our nation as a shield of freedom, our task is to strengthen strategic alliances, develop technological advantages, and bring every one of our soldiers home victorious,” emphasized Valeriy Churkin.
