On Thursday, May 15, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal extended their greetings to Ukrainians on the occasion of Embroidery Day and Family Day.

Both leaders highlighted the significance of embroidery as a symbol of cultural heritage and family values, stressing the unity of the nation in contemporary times.

Zelensky's Greetings on the Holiday

“Today we reflect on our roots and family. This date unites important meanings. Each embroidery pattern represents the strength of our traditions and the history of our people. It is a connection passed down through generations that we must cherish,” Zelensky stated.

The President also emphasized the importance of preserving national heritage: “We will definitely keep the Ukrainian spirit alive for future generations.”

“Happy Embroidery Day and Family Day, Ukraine!” the President added.

Shmyhal's Greetings on the Holiday

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that wearing an embroidered shirt is a declaration to the world that Ukraine thrives and carries its culture forward.

“Embroidery is the code of resilience for the Ukrainian people, a symbol that identifies us as Ukrainians, showcasing our belonging to a nation of strength and freedom. By wearing embroidery, we not only preserve traditions but also declare to the world that Ukraine lives in our hearts and carries its culture through the ages,” he emphasized.

Shmyhal also reminded that Embroidery Day is celebrated annually on the third Thursday of May.
