French President Emmanuel Macron declared his readiness to impose sanctions on Russia if it does not agree to an immediate ceasefire.

Source: he stated this during a broadcast on TF1 on the evening of May 13, according to information from "European Truth".

Details: Macron pointed out that the main goal of France and other European nations is to achieve peace "on all fronts, to discuss territorial and security issues".

"We intend to impose new sanctions against Russia in the coming days," if it refuses to cease hostilities, he added.

The French leader also emphasized that European countries are coordinating their sanctioning actions.

Recall that Germany, France, the UK, and Poland called on Russia for a 30-day ceasefire starting Monday. Should Russia refuse to stop fighting by May 12, they threatened new stringent sanctions.

The German government stated that if a ceasefire is not established in Ukraine by the end of Monday, Berlin, together with European partners, would begin preparations for new sanctions against Russia.

However, on May 13, it became known that European leaders are willing to wait for a possible meeting between the Ukrainian president and the Kremlin leader in Turkey before imposing new sanctions.
