In Ivano-Frankivsk, doctors performed a complex surgery on a 7-year-old boy who had 17 magnets in his stomach.
This was reported on Facebook by Taras Melnyk, the director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital.
According to him, the boy was brought to the hospital complaining of severe abdominal pain. During the examination, it was discovered that he had accidentally swallowed 17 neodymium magnets.
“After thorough examination and pre-operative preparation, the child underwent surgery - a laparotomy, resection of a segment of the small intestine with entero-enterostomy, and repair of the perforation of the small intestine,” Melnyk informed.
He added that on the tenth day post-surgery, the child was discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition for further recovery at home.
We remind you that recently, neurosurgeons at the Lviv Clinical Center for Pediatric Medicine saved a two-month-old baby by removing a brain tumor.
