The Parliament has decided to extend the deadline for military personnel who have deserted their units to voluntarily return until August 30, 2025, supporting bill No. 13177.

Quote: "In fact, the deputies have extended the voluntary return period until August 30, 2025. Adopted in general and in principle – 282 votes".
Details: According to Zheleznyak, on April 30, the Parliament extended the return period for soldiers who left their units without authorization.
Main provisions of the bill:
- While martial law is in effect, the service of soldiers who have deserted does not officially stop. However, if they do not return by the end of martial law, their service will be considered suspended the day after martial law ends.
- The time of their absence will not count towards their service length, and during this period, they will not receive payments, provisions, or benefits (this amendment was introduced by the Committee to the bill).
- The opportunity to voluntarily return to service lasts until August 30, 2025. Upon return, all benefits and social guarantees provided by law will be restored.
- Returning soldiers may continue their service even if a criminal case has been opened against them – at the commander's discretion.
- If the service is suspended or a soldier has deserted during martial law, they and their families lose the right to benefits and compensations during this time.
