A violent incident occurred in Kyiv where a 32-year-old man initially assaulted a tram driver and then inflicted knife wounds. He could face up to eight years in prison for his actions.
Emergency services reported to line 102 about the hospitalization of a 43-year-old tram driver with knife wounds to the chest and face in the Desnyansky district.
Law enforcement authorities determined that the driver was injured after asking a passenger to leave the tram at the final stop. The passenger began to argue, escalating into a fight, during which he stabbed the driver twice. Currently, the victim is in need of long-term recovery.
Authorities quickly identified and located the attacker, who turned out to be a 32-year-old local resident.
Investigators detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged him under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional grievous bodily harm. The penalty for this article provides for imprisonment of up to eight years.
