Golosiyivsky police have concluded their investigation and have sent a case to court regarding two residents of Kyiv and the surrounding area, who deceived citizens for several months by selling non-existent products. They face up to five years in prison.
According to the investigation, two individuals aged 18 and 24 are involved in the fraud.
Taking advantage of the high demand for charging stations due to power outages, the fraudsters created fake advertisements on popular online platforms for equipment sales, communicated with potential buyers via messaging apps, and convinced them to make full or partial advance payments for the «goods».
After receiving the funds, the perpetrators ceased all contact with the buyers and disposed of the money at their discretion.
In total, 14 victims from Kyiv and other regions lost between 3,500 to 40,000 hryvnias each. Among the documented cases, the largest payment was 315,000 hryvnias. The total amount of damages to citizens amounts to approximately 600,000 hryvnias.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Golosiyivsky District Prosecutor's Office, have charged the suspects under part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud). The indictment has now been sent to court. The accused face up to 5 years in prison.
