A tragic traffic incident occurred in Kyiv around 08:00, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. A 56-year-old driver of a Volkswagen, while moving forward on a yellow traffic signal, entered a pedestrian crossing. At that moment, a man was crossing the road, and regrettably, he was struck and killed instantly. The driver underwent an alcohol test, and it was confirmed he was sober. The police detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators have initiated a criminal case under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating traffic safety rules, leading to the death of a victim. The law stipulates that the driver could face imprisonment ranging from three to eight years, along with a possible ban on driving for up to three years.
