Over the weekend, around midnight, a car accident occurred in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. The driver of a Volkswagen collided with a Hyundai traveling in the same direction on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street.
As a result of the collision, the 30-year-old Hyundai driver, a citizen of Tajikistan, sustained serious injuries, including a closed fracture of the arm, and was hospitalized.
Police apprehended the 24-year-old foreign offender at the scene under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was found to be intoxicated, with a Drager device showing 2.23 promille of alcohol.
Investigators from the capital's police department have charged the detained individual under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating traffic safety rules while driving under the influence. The penalty for this offense can lead to up to three years of imprisonment.
