In the capital of Ukraine, law enforcement apprehended a young man who, under the direction of Russian intelligence, set fire to a pickup truck belonging to a local resident, mistaking it for military transport. The 22-year-old suspect hoped to earn $2,000 for this criminal act but never received the promised payment. The police quickly located the arsonist, who now faces up to ten years in prison.
Recently, police received reports of a Ford vehicle on fire on a street in the Solomianskyi district. Emergency responders swiftly arrived to contain the fire, and a detective team documented the incident.
Authorities determined that the vehicle was ignited using an incendiary substance. During the investigation, they apprehended a 22-year-old Kyiv resident living nearby.
Investigators found that the man received a message from a "curator" in the aggressor country via a messenger app, offering money for setting vehicles on fire. Tempted by easy earnings, the individual agreed to carry out these criminal orders and ignited the vehicle, which the perpetrator believed to belong to a military personnel. However, he never received the promised $2,000.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and under the supervision of the Solomianskyi District Prosecutor's Office, he was charged under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional damage to property by arson.
