In Kyiv, law enforcement officials halted the activities of a man who, along with accomplices, facilitated the illegal exit of conscripts to the EU.
According to the investigative department of the Pechersk Police, under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, a 35-year-old man was found to be involved in criminal activities, organizing illegal exits for conscripted men to Europe.
The perpetrator sought out 'clients' among men of draft age, promising them, for a fee of $12,000, safe passage across the border outside of checkpoints. His accomplices handled the subsequent transportation, and their identities are currently being established by investigators.
Investigators, supported by criminal police and the SBU, as well as border guard operatives, apprehended the suspect while he was receiving money from one of the conscripts.
The man has been charged under part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for organizing illegal transportation of individuals across the state border, committed by a group of individuals for selfish motives. The penalty for this article provides for up to nine years of imprisonment and confiscation of property.
