The suspect is currently in custody. He faces up to ten years of imprisonment for his actions.
The Kyiv police received a report of a robbery on Vasylkivska street. An investigative team from the Holosiivskyi police department and criminal police officers were dispatched to the scene.
Law enforcement officials determined that the victim was a 44-year-old military personnel receiving treatment in the capital. The woman was in a café when an unknown man rushed to her table, grabbed her bag containing money, a bank card, and documents, and fled. The complainant provided a detailed description of the perpetrator, which the police used to begin their search.
Within a few hours, investigators identified the suspect. He turned out to be a 22-year-old local resident, who was detained by the police in accordance with the law. During the investigative actions, police seized the bag with the items and returned it to the owner; however, the suspect had already spent the 3000 hryvnias.
Investigators, under the supervision of the Holosiivskyi district prosecutor's office, informed the detainee of the charges under part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed under martial law conditions. The sanctions of the incriminated article provide for punishment of up to ten years in prison. During the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of custody with the possibility of bail set at approximately 121,000 hryvnias.
