The Kyiv city prosecutor's office has announced charges against five individuals related to illegal drug trafficking and psychotropic substances. Their actions have been classified under part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, involving illegal production, storage, and distribution of drugs in large quantities. It has been established that the members of this criminal group were selling methadone, mephedrone, amphetamine, PVP, cannabis, and other substances via postal services. Authorities seized approximately 300 grams of PVP, electronic scales, postal packages, mobile phones, and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved. The article's sanctions provide for punishment of up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, with operational support from the criminal investigation department.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court verdict.
