The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has announced charges against a 67-year-old female driver for violating traffic rules that resulted in a fatality. The tragic accident occurred on August 26 on Svitlytskoho Street in Kyiv. It has been established that the woman, driving a «Hyundai IX35», failed to yield and collided with a driver of an electric tricycle. The cyclist was traveling on the main road at an uncontrolled roundabout intersection. As a result of the collision, the 76-year-old tricycle driver suffered injuries and died at the scene.
The driver's actions have been classified under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which addresses violations of road safety that cause the death of a victim. The law prescribes imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with a potential ban on driving for up to three years or without such a ban. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, and the detectives of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv are handling the case. According to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
