The case regarding the cable car tragedy in Kyiv, which resulted in the death of a young man, has been forwarded to trial, where five individuals will be held accountable for serious violations.
The indictment prepared by the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office involves the cable car designer, the director of the company that implemented the project, the expert who inspected the attraction, the entrepreneur managing the cable car, and a former technical supervisor.
It is recalled that on July 21, 2024, a steel cable of the attraction broke, causing a 20-year-old man to fall into the Dnipro River, resulting in his death.
It has been established that:
- The designer made significant errors, including the choice of a cable unsuitable for use in attractions, which led to the break;
- The company director approved an inadequate technical project;
- The expert conducting the inspection failed to notice the cable's mismatch with its intended use;
- The entrepreneur responsible for the cable car did not comply with daily inspection requirements;
- Four of the accused will be tried for safety violations that resulted in loss of life.
The former technical supervisor, responsible for ensuring the safety of municipal facilities, is charged with negligence that caused severe consequences.
