The Kyiv city prosecutor's office, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine, arrested a KMD official and the director of a municipal market on suspicion of corruption involving a bribe of 25 thousand US dollars.

It was established that in 2023 one entrepreneur rented municipal property to set up a food establishment at this market.

Later, it turned out that the main entrance to the food establishment was located in the arch of the market building, which belongs to another entity – the Tourism and Promotions Department of the KMD. This department used the arch for advertising purposes, obstructing access to the future food establishment.

To resolve the access issue, the Tourism Department official offered the entrepreneur to meet and “purchase” the right to unhindered access to his premises.

To implement the illegal scheme, she also involved the market director, who was to act as an intermediary and assist in the transfer of property using his official position.

Both were arrested while receiving the funds. A notification of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under part 4 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being prepared.
