A court trial will commence in the capital of Ukraine against two criminals who exploited fake advertisements for favorable currency exchanges to rob residents of Kyiv of 2.1 million hryvnias.
The prosecutors from the Darnytsia District Prosecutor's Office have submitted an indictment to the court against these individuals, who had placed ads online inviting people for currency exchange meetings, only to commit robberies.
One victim was attempting to exchange 30 thousand US dollars. The exchange was set to take place in a taxi, where the man with cash was invited to sit. Afterward, one of the accomplices exited the vehicle, supposedly to retrieve some hryvnias from the trunk, and fled with the money.
Similarly, they arranged a meeting with a woman to exchange 42 thousand US dollars. She was also asked to sit in the back seat of the taxi for a money check. This time, one of the robbers snatched 21,900 US dollars from her.
These actions resulted in significant financial losses for the victims, totaling over 2 million 100 thousand hryvnias.
The actions of the accused are classified under part 5 of Article 190 and part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
