The Coordination Council of the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster convened to discuss pressing job market challenges and potential solutions through educational and scientific initiatives. This was reported by the municipal research institution «Kyiv Institute of Socio-Economic Development».
«The job market in the capital has undergone significant changes due to the full-scale invasion by Russia. The unstable security situation, migration abroad, mobilization into the Armed Forces, and the time required for the adaptation of internally displaced persons have created a considerable imbalance between demand and supply in the labor market. Therefore, educational institutions, research establishments, and businesses are ready to unite under the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster to develop educational initiatives aimed at addressing urgent unemployment issues,» stated the director of the institute, Serhiy Pavlovskyi.
He noted that short-term and specialized training programs, retraining, and adaptation strategies for the adult population could help reduce unemployment and develop new professional competencies in line with current demands.
Additionally, the meeting discussed the necessity of involving higher education institutions in innovative fairs, which should serve as platforms for the commercialization of scientific inventions, startup creation, and partnerships with business.
«The presentation of technological developments from laboratories and innovation centers of universities will promote entrepreneurship and strengthen cooperation between science and government structures. Our goal is to create conditions where science and education become key drivers of regional development and improve the quality of life for communities,» emphasized Serhiy Pavlovskyi.
Moreover, a memorandum was signed at the meeting for the inclusion of new participants into the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster, specifically the Institute of Metal Physics named after G.V. Kurdyumov and the Institute of Cybernetics named after V.M. Glushkov.
Welcoming the new participants, Serhiy Pavlovskyi noted that their inclusion strengthens the cluster's scientific and technical potential and opens up new opportunities for interdisciplinary projects, particularly in the fields of digital medicine, urban infrastructure, and smart technologies.
It is worth recalling that the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster includes leading higher education institutions in the capital, such as the Ukrainian State University named after Mykhailo Drahomanov and the Kyiv School of Economics.
