Today, in celebration of Defender's Day, a memorial was inaugurated at the main building of Boris Hrinchenko Kyiv University, dedicated to the memory of students, alumni, and faculty who perished in the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The ceremony was attended by faculty, students, military personnel, and family members of the fallen heroes. The memorial honors 18 individuals from Hrinchenko University who lost their lives defending Ukraine. Currently, another 43 students and alumni are serving on the front lines, alongside 19 faculty members who are also defending our country.

The event commenced with a moment of silence in honor of the fallen heroes. Attendees bowed their heads in respect for those who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine's freedom and independence.

“This is not just a memorial; it marks the beginning of a space to commemorate the heroism of Hrinchenko University’s defenders. Their feats must be preserved for future generations who will learn in a free Ukraine. Soon, flags of the units where our students and faculty serve will be displayed here. We are proud of them and grateful for their heroism,” said Acting Rector Oleksandr Turuntsev.

During the presentation of the photo exhibition “WAR. OBJECTIVELY,” works by faculty and students of the university were showcased. The photographs, taken both on the front lines and in the rear, depict the war through the eyes of those who have lived it personally.
