A new underground school has recently opened in Zaporizhzhia, designed to accommodate a thousand students, including children from a nearby kindergarten.
This institution has become the seventh of its kind in the region, as stated by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
The school is located in the Zavodskyi district and spans over 1300 square meters, with the capacity for instruction in two shifts.
"In just a few months, a safe school with modern design, interactive equipment, and comfortable furniture has emerged in the densely populated area of Zaporizhzhia, where children can finally learn offline for the first time in 5 years," noted Fedorov.
The school features 15 classrooms, a medical office, a lounge area, and a cafeteria offering healthy food options.
It operates autonomously and is equipped with modern ventilation, surveillance cameras, and fire alarm systems.
This underground school will also serve children from the nearby kindergarten.
Additionally, Fedorov mentioned plans for the construction of 25 more underground schools in the Zaporizhzhia region by 2025.
It is worth noting that the first underground school in Zaporizhzhia began operations in December 2024, located at a depth of 7 meters and capable of withstanding missile strikes.
