This exhibition, organized under the EU and UNDP program, is titled ‘Heroes of Our Time’ and is taking place in Kyiv. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the critical role that rescuers play in saving lives and rebuilding communities.
The exhibition is conceived as “Rescue. Support. Protect” is conceived as “a space of light amid the darkness.” - a symbol of hope and renewal. It is part of a broader communication campaign that highlights the heroic contributions of emergency service workers supported by UNDP and partners.
Through portraits and personal stories, the exhibition showcases the human faces behind rescue operations, medical assistance, psychological support, and infrastructure recovery. Each photograph tells a story of determination and humanity - those who act without hesitation even in danger.
Seven personal stories are highlighted:
- Oleksandr Bohachov - a rescuer using drones to locate people under rubble.
- Olena Vaskovska - an energy worker who continued her job after evacuation from Lysychansk.
- Andrii Samusin - a psychologist supporting the resilience of rescuers through meditation.
- Victor Kurdvanivskyi - a medic who saves lives during emergencies.
- Kateryna Onipenko - a police officer documenting war crimes.
- Anna Humenyuk - a psychologist aiding families of the deceased.
- Oleg Polshcha - head of underwater demining, clearing waters of debris.
The head of the EU cooperation program in Ukraine emphasized the importance of supporting rescuers.
“This exhibition honors their courage and underscores the EU's commitment to strengthening Ukraine,” he stated.
The exhibition is open at Blockbuster Mall from December 2 to 21.
