The Kyiv Metro not only provides fast transportation but also serves as a reliable shelter. Metro staff are always ready to assist passengers in finding their way and ensuring comfort while they wait. However, it's essential for everyone to take care of their safety and their loved ones.

The Kyiv Metro offers recommendations for a comfortable stay during air alerts.

At night in the shelter, it is advisable to have:

  • warm clothing, blankets, and sleeping mats, as temperatures may drop due to drafts from the tunnels;
  • personal medications, water, or a thermos with a hot drink;
  • hygiene items (wet and dry wipes, toilet paper);
  • for pet owners – pads and bags.

If the station operates as a shelter before closing (22:30–23:30), remember:

  • do not occupy passenger flow areas, as this may complicate evacuation;
  • use the space rationally to avoid inconvenience;
  • keep an eye on personal belongings and maintain cleanliness.

After the metro resumes operations (from 5:30), stations do not function as shelters. Passengers remaining inside must understand that the metro is returning to normal operation. Sleeping on platforms is prohibited due to:

  • the safety risk posed by train movements;
  • obstruction of evacuation routes;
  • hindrance to passengers using the metro.

Over 700 metro employees work at night to ensure uninterrupted service. They conduct repairs and cleaning, check equipment, and a specialized transport operates at night to deliver workers to work sites.

We urge everyone to understand the efforts of metro workers, as they ensure comfort and safety in the subway.
