In the capital of Ukraine, municipal services have launched an initiative to create new green zones, specifically mini parks. This was announced by the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
When creating mini parks, the preferences of residents and the specific needs of neighborhoods were taken into account. This project is being implemented for the second consecutive year. Green spaces are appearing in locations where residents lack recreational areas.
For the landscaping of mini parks, plants that are resilient to urban conditions, as well as decorative grasses and perennial flowers, were selected to not only beautify the area but also improve ecological conditions.
According to Olha Manko, Acting General Director of Kyivzelenbud, areas near public transport stops, metro stations, and densely populated residential complexes were chosen for the project, as well as sites where small architectural forms were previously located.
"Our main goal is to create comfortable and accessible green zones where every resident can feel at ease. Mini parks are equipped with convenient benches, including barrier-free pathways and decorative landscaping," emphasized Olha Manko.
As part of the autumn greening initiative, over 100 trees, 16,300 flowers, 8,700 shrubs, and nearly 9,000 grasses have been planted at these locations, along with the arrangement of 7,000 square meters of lawns.
Locations where mini parks have been established include:
- Holosiivskyi District – Volodymyr-Lybydskyi Boulevard (between Kazymyr Malevych Street and Antonovych Street);
- Darnytskyi District – 36-38 Hryhorenka Avenue;
- Desnianskyi District – 28 Milyutenka Street;
- Dniprovskyi District – Almatynska Street (opposite house No. 101);
