In the capital of Ukraine, the installation of «Emergency Police Call Buttons» continues, enabling immediate reporting of dangerous situations.
This initiative is part of a nationwide social project implemented by the Department of Police Protection.
Currently, there are more than 2,640 buttons operating in Kyiv, of which 111 are publicly accessible. They are located in supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, pawn shops, gas stations, public spaces, underground passages, and on busy streets.
«Pressing the emergency button sends an alert that is transmitted within seconds to the monitoring center. From there, it is directed to the nearest police response unit. This often saves lives or prevents crimes from being completed,» explains Colonel Arkadiy Shakhmatov, head of the Police Protection Department in Kyiv.
According to the press secretary of the department, Police Captain Anastasia Ivanova, buttons are installed not only in busy areas but also near pharmacies, hospitals, and in residential neighborhoods:
«It's important for everyone to know: help is just a button press away.»
The buttons are connected to backup power sources, ensuring they work even during power outages. Anyone feeling threatened can use them.
