Kyiv has released comprehensive information about pet walking zones, along with details on capture, sterilization, vaccination, and identification of stray animals for the first time.
The Unified State Web Portal of Open Data has published two new datasets related to animal care and protection:
1) Data on the locations of pet walking zones, which includes information about the site of the walking area, the name of the territory's custodian, and other important characteristics such as operating hours, presence of fencing, and infrastructure for animal training;
2) Information regarding the capture, sterilization, and identification of stray animals, including details like the individual number of the animal on the chip, its species, breed, gender, color, and medical procedures conducted, such as vaccinations and sterilizations, along with the date and location of capture/release, and the name of the legal entity that performed the capture.
“Publishing data on stray animals serves as a tool for transparent accounting and public control over sterilization and vaccination. Additionally, this data will help to understand the number of stray animals in the city and serve as a foundation for further analysis,” said Acting Director of the Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation Department of the Kyiv City State Administration, Serhiy Saburov.
Currently, the dataset contains information on 4,947 stray animals.
“The availability of specially designated areas for pet walking is an essential element of urban infrastructure. They create a new culture of interaction between humans and animals in the city, enhancing the comfort of daily life for Kyiv residents,” added Serhiy Saburov.
The datasets in the open data format were prepared by the Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation Department of the Kyiv City State Administration in collaboration with the Kyiv City Veterinary Medicine Hospital, under the coordination of the Information Policy and Public Access to Information Department of the Kyiv City State Administration.
The Kyiv City State Administration continues to improve open data, ensuring its relevance and user-friendliness.
