On August 13, a significant meeting took place in Kyiv, where a commission addressed the establishment of memorial plaques at the Department of Public Communications of the Kyiv City State Administration.
Myroslava Smirnova, the head of the department, stated: «Memorial plaques serve as a vital connection between generations, honoring those whose knowledge, talent, and dedication shaped our nation. It is our responsibility to ensure their names live on in the memories of future generations.»
List of memorial plaques:
- at 67 Vyshgorodska Street - to the outstanding gerontologist Vladislav Bezrukov, whose research in aging laid the foundation for gerontology in Ukraine;
- at 45 Science Avenue - to physicist Vladimir Machulin, whose work in semiconductor physics brought global recognition to Ukraine;
- at 2 Mykhailivska Street - to opera singer Roman Maiboroda, whose unique voice captivated audiences both in Ukraine and around the world;
- at 15 Sreetenska Street - to Archbishop Nestor Sharayivsky, whose efforts promoted the affirmation of Ukrainian spiritual and national identity.
