In the past six years, Kyiv has completed either complete renovations or replacements of 500 elevators within the co-financing program ‘Capremont’. This year, plans are in place to replace or repair an additional 125 elevators. Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Petro Panteleev, reported this during an inspection of the work at a building on Pryrichna Street in the Obolon district.
“Quality elevator equipment is crucial for safety and reliability. We are not just replacing elevators; we are modernizing them by installing energy-efficient lifts that consume less electricity. The equipment comes from various manufacturers, including both foreign and Ukrainian companies,” Panteleev stated.
He also reminded that there are five support mechanisms for multi-apartment residential buildings in Kyiv, including the ‘70/30’ competition and the ‘Capremont’ program. “These programs are available to all residents, regardless of whether you have a homeowners' association,” he emphasized.
According to him, the ‘Capremont’ program offers flexible financial participation for residents, where the city covers most of the costs. For energy-efficient measures, 70% of the costs are covered by the city and 30% by residents. In the case of elevator repairs, the city covers 95% of the costs, making it easier for residents to participate,” added Petro Panteleev.
Over five years of the ‘Capremont’ program, the city has allocated more than 1.1 billion UAH for various renovations, while residents contributed 93.4 million UAH.
