In the works of Lyuda Kovalchuk, Kyiv emerges not just as a city, but as a symbolic space where every church, street, or hill serves as a source of energy.

The Memorial House of Mykhailo Starytsky is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the sacred image of Kyiv, where each building is a part of history.

Through a series of landscapes, the artist presents Kyiv as a space of spirituality, where architecture acts as a prayer, and light symbolizes hope. Her works are not merely cityscapes but visual meditations that merge reality with metaphor.

«I paint not the buildings, but the silence between them. For me, Kyiv is a state of the soul,» says Lyuda Kovalchuk.

In the paintings, familiar yet unique images can be seen: St. Andrew's Church in the morning mist, the Golden Gates in autumn light, and the silhouettes of the Lavra against the evening sky. Each piece serves as a window into the inner Kyiv, the one that lives in memory, dreams, and silence.

«Lyuda Kovalchuk's landscapes are not just depictions of the city but its internal portrait. Each canvas holds not only architecture but also the mood, light, and silence that envelop Kyiv at different times of the day and year. Her Kyiv is a city that breathes, listens, and remembers. These landscapes do not illustrate but interpret the sacred space of the capital, they are emotional — like memories, like dreams, like prayers,» remarked representatives from the Museum of Mykhailo Starytsky.

Curators also emphasized that within the walls of Mykhailo Starytsky's house, Lyuda Kovalchuk's works resonate deeply: they continue the tradition of seeing Kyiv not just as a capital, but as a city-symbol, a city-witness, a city-inspiration. We sincerely are glad to share this vision with our visitors.
