Every day at 8:55, users will receive a notification, and at 9:00, a countdown timer for a moment of silence will appear on the screen.

The latest update to the Kyiv Digital mobile app has introduced a feature that allows users to commemorate the fallen heroes of the war: now, the daily moment of silence is displayed as a timer directly on the smartphone screen. This was announced by the Kyiv Digital team.

iOS users can activate reminders in the app and enable Live Activity in their phone settings. Daily at 8:55, they will receive a notification, and at 9:00, a countdown timer for the moment of silence will appear. For Android users, interactive reminders require granting access to the alarm settings in their system settings. The 8:55 notification is optional.

Additionally, iPhone users can now see the status of air alerts or their cancellation in Live Activity, even on the locked screen.

“Commemorating the memory of Defenders is not just a personal matter; it is an important collective action of the entire community. Thanks to the efforts of the Kyiv Digital developers, the daily moment of silence now has a visual dimension that is both restrained and attentive to its meanings. Back in March, we called on digital billboard owners to participate in this initiative, so Kyiv could serve as an example of honoring the memory of our heroes, and this community responded. Now, the reminder of the moment of silence will be personal,” stated Valentyn Mondryivskyi, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

As a reminder, starting April 1, a unified visual message announcing the start of a moment of silence has been broadcast daily at 9:00 on digital billboards, city lights, and in the subway throughout the capital. This initiative has been implemented with the support of the Kyiv City Council.
