A popular French comic has been newly translated by 18-year-old Anna-Maria Baladina.

On June 19 at 15:00, the Central Library named after T.G. Shevchenko for children in Kyiv (25-A Beresteiskyi Avenue) will host the presentation of the first Ukrainian translation of the adventures of Asterix and Obelix - “Asterix from Gaul.” This is reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Administration.

The comic “Asterix” has been one of the most translated comics in the world, and Ukrainian is now the 120th language, thanks to the support of the French publisher “Albert René.”

The translation was done by the youngest translator in the history of the publication: Anna-Maria Baladina, who is just 18 years old and a first-year student at the Sorbonne in Paris.

This bold publishing project was made possible by Rostyslav Shershchuk, co-founder of the Asterix Readers Club in Ukraine and president of Saturn Data International.

Celeste Surug, managing director of the “Albert René” publishing house, stated that publishing this book is particularly relevant in the current context, where the spirit of resistance and refusal to submit to oppression can change circumstances.

The comic has been published by “Pinzel,” a publisher specializing in translated fiction and illustrated literature.
