U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that the current week could be "decisive" in peace negotiations regarding Ukraine, and based on the outcomes, the U.S. will determine its future actions in this regard.
Rubio made this statement during an appearance on NBC News.

He also believes that Ukraine and Russia are now "closer than ever" in the last three years to reaching a deal.
"I think this will be a decisive week. We need to make a decision whether to continue our efforts or focus on other important issues," Rubio stated.
The Secretary of State reiterated that the U.S. has already shown Russia and Ukraine the "finish line" for ending the war.
"Both sides just need to agree on this. We have shown them the way forward. We discussed these ideas... We showed them the finish line," he added.
As reported earlier, on April 18, Rubio stated that the U.S. expects progress in achieving peace in Ukraine within a few days.
Otherwise, he noted, President Donald Trump would be informed that the negotiations are no longer meaningful. On the same day, Trump confirmed that the United States would withdraw from peace talks if either side "complicates" the process significantly.
