During the 30-hour "Easter ceasefire" declared by Russia, the Russian army carried out three FPV drone strikes near the vehicle of volunteer Yevhen Tkachenko, who was evacuating civilians from the village of Zorya located in Donetsk. Zorya is situated south of Kostiantynivka.

Direct speech from Tkachenko: "Taking advantage of the 'Easter ceasefire', I attempted to evacuate elderly people from the frontline Zorya and accompany two families who were leaving on their own. I left first, followed by two more vehicles, and we had white ribbons (indicating that there were civilians in the vehicle – UT). About 50 meters from the exit to the Donetsk highway, I noticed a drone, turned on the hazard lights, stepped out of the vehicle, and started waving my hands, indicating that I was a civilian. Despite this, the drone struck half a meter from my vehicle. I signaled the two vehicles behind me to pass through, but I couldn't leave myself as my car wouldn't start (the hit also damaged the tires – UT). We, along with the two evacuees in my car, moved into the bushes.

Then, a second FPV flew in, circled us several times, and "exploded" just a few meters away from the people! One woman sustained shrapnel wounds to her buttocks.

We called (the police, acquaintances – UT), asking for help, but no one arrived. Then I saw the third FPV finishing off the car.

We were rescued by the heroic chaplain Oleksandr Reshetnyk, with whom we were held captive in Sloviansk in 2014. By the way, the car that was destroyed by the Russians was also with me in captivity in 2014. It belonged to my wife."

Details: The injured civilian woman and a man who, fortunately, was unharmed were handed over to medics by Yevhen Tkachenko.

Background:

  • On Saturday, the head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, announced an "Easter ceasefire", which allegedly implies a halt to all hostilities in Ukraine from the evening of April 19 to midnight on April 21. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the occupiers would adhere to the ceasefire regime provided it was mutually observed by Kyiv.
  • According to the monitoring project DeepState, military personnel felt almost no impact from the so-called "Easter ceasefire" that the Russians promised.
