Top military officials from France and the UK met with Ukrainian representatives to discuss the needs and objectives of the Ukrainian armed forces, aiming to provide long-term support.

This was reported by the press service of the French General Staff, according to "European Truth".

On April 4, the chiefs of staff from both countries visited Kyiv, engaging with Ukrainian leadership.

The General Staff noted that the purpose of the visit was to address the needs of the Ukrainian army to ensure its further development.

"Strengthening the Ukrainian army is crucial for the security of the country if we aim for lasting peace in Ukraine," said the General Staff representatives.

They also emphasized that France and the UK plan to work closely together on defining and implementing operations to deter Russia from new aggressive actions.

"The cooperation between France and the UK will continue, contributing to the security of the European continent," they added in the statement.

General Thierry Burkhard noted that the primary aim of the visit was to demonstrate decisive support for Ukraine in its efforts.

On March 27, President Macron announced the dispatch of a Franco-British mission to Ukraine to bolster its army. He also stated that work is ongoing regarding the potential deployment of "guaranteeing forces".

On March 28, President Zelensky announced a meeting of the chiefs of staff to discuss the deployment of military contingents.

The president emphasized that this would be the "first significant meeting" to discuss important matters.
