In the Donetsk region, Ukrainian border guards have destroyed a rare sample of Russian military equipment — the mobile reconnaissance and air defense control point PPRU-1 "Ovod-M-SV". This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The strike was carried out by an FPV drone pilot with the call sign "Voyage" from the "Phoenix" unit. He navigated behind enemy lines, identified the hostile system, and eliminated it with a precise strike.
The PPRU-1 "Ovod-M-SV" (Mobile Reconnaissance and Control Point -1) is a Soviet and Russian mobile command and reconnaissance point for tactical level air defense units, adopted into service in 1978. The vehicle is based on the lightweight armored tractor MT-LBu, weighs 15.5 tons, has a crew of five, and can deploy within 5 minutes.
The system is equipped with a digital radar with a 360-degree view and a detection range for aerial targets of up to 40 km, capable of tracking up to 99 objects simultaneously. Its primary purpose is target designation and fire control for anti-aircraft missile systems such as ZSU-23-4 "Shilka", 9K35 "Strela-10", 2K22 "Tunguska", as well as portable complexes like "Strela-3" and "Igla".
Earlier, the special unit "Phantoms" of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine destroyed a helicopter and costly Russian air defense systems in Crimea.
