The situation on the southern front is becoming increasingly tense. Over the past day, Russian forces have intensified their use of kamikaze drones and artillery shelling. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Southern Defense Forces, Vladislav Voloshin.
"The situation in our region is complicated, and we are observing an increase in drone strikes and artillery fire targeting not only our positions but also nearby settlements. The enemy is also ramping up the number of munitions used during these assaults," Voloshin noted.
According to the spokesperson, there have been fewer combat encounters in the south compared to other fronts.
"In the south, there were 13 combat encounters, eight of which occurred in the Huliaipole direction, where the enemy has been unsuccessfully trying to seize Poltavka for several days. Additionally, four encounters took place in the Orikhiv direction near Kamianske and Stepove, and the enemy attempted to storm our positions in the Dnipro direction near the Antonivskiy bridges. All these attempts were unsuccessful," he reported.
Voloshin also informed that in the Orikhiv direction near Stepove, Russian occupiers again used motorcycles in their assault but faced losses and had to retreat.
On the front on October 6, there were 193 combat encounters between the defense forces and Russian invaders, with Ukrainian troops repelling 59 enemy attacks in the Pokrovsk direction.
