Direct quote from the president: "Rescue operations are ongoing in Kyiv following the attack... It is already known, unfortunately, about the eight fatalities, including one child."
Details: The president added that there may still be people trapped under the rubble.
According to KMVA, as of 08:30, the number of injured from the Russian attack on Kyiv has risen to 45.
"Today's Russian missiles and drones are a clear response to everyone in the world who has called for a ceasefire and real diplomacy. Russia chooses violence over negotiation. It continues the killings rather than ending the war, showing that it is still unafraid of consequences. Russia exploits the fact that part of the world turns a blind eye to the dead children and seeks excuses for Putin," emphasized Zelensky.
He also called for China's reaction to the ongoing situation since China has repeatedly urged against the escalation of war and for a ceasefire.
"This is absent due to Russia. We expect a reaction from Hungary. The death of children should invoke greater emotions than anything else. We anticipate reactions from everyone who called for peace but is now more silent than principled," stated the president.
Zelensky urged the world to impose new severe sanctions against Russia for its actions.
"All deadlines have been missed, and numerous opportunities for diplomacy have been ruined. Russia must feel its responsibility for every strike and every day of this war," concluded the president.
