On the night of August 21, during another massive assault, nearly 50 Russian drones were neutralized in the Kyiv region thanks to interceptor drones. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Mykola Kalashnikov.
"The 'Clear Sky' team successfully intercepted almost five dozen enemy drones last night. I thank our defenders for their dedication and concern for the safety of the towns and villages of Kyiv region," he noted.
According to him, the alert in Kyiv region lasted over 7 hours. No hits on critical or residential infrastructure were reported. Mykola Kalashnikov stated that there were no casualties among the population.
It is worth mentioning that the 'Clear Sky' project was launched in the spring of 2025 in Kyiv region as a response to the tactics of mass attacks by enemy kamikaze drones. Defenders use interceptors to destroy drones in the sky before they can harm civilians and infrastructure.
In May, the head of the Kyiv OVA announced the formation of new teams and the training of new interceptor operators. He also noted that the experience of the project is already expanding beyond Kyiv region and scaling to other areas.
On August 18, Mykola Kalashnikov stated that nearly 900 enemy drones had been intercepted since the project's inception.
