In Kherson, Russian troops carried out artillery shelling targeting volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross, resulting in damage to an evacuation vehicle.

The organization reported this on its Facebook page.

On August 9, around 10:00 PM, Russian forces began intense shelling of Kherson, focusing their fire on the "Ostriv" neighborhood, where mass evacuation of residents is ongoing.

About 11:10 PM, a new attack occurred near the deployment site of the Ukrainian Red Cross rapid response team in Kherson region.

As a result of the strike, a Toyota Land Cruiser used by volunteers for evacuating people, delivering humanitarian aid, and performing other tasks in the combat zone was damaged.

A Volkswagen Transporter ambulance was also present in the parking lot, with a wheel damaged by shrapnel.

At that time, another group of volunteers was in a shelter, so no one was injured.

The organization emphasized its strong condemnation of attacks on civilian infrastructure and transport clearly marked with the Red Cross emblem, as such actions constitute a direct violation of international humanitarian law.
