The Ukrainian military is currently in control of approximately 90 square kilometers in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskiy, during a meeting with journalists, as reported by Ukrinform.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine maintain control over 90 sq. km in the Kursk area.
Syrskiy claims that the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Glushkovsky district have hindered the Russian military's ability to transfer significant forces from the Kursk direction to Donetsk.
«In April 2025, Russian troops—approximately 60,000 personnel, including two airborne assault divisions, airborne assault brigades, and marine brigades—were ordered to shift to new combat directions to reinforce Russian offensive units in Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Lyman, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, thereby increasing the tempo of enemy offensives. However, our active maneuvers in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region disrupted these plans,» Syrskiy emphasized.
The Commander-in-Chief explained that, as a result, those units were not redeployed to other sectors.
According to Syrskiy, one of the brigades that was already moving towards the Pokrovsk direction was redirected back to the Kursk area. Currently, around 10,000 Russian soldiers are engaged in combat operations specifically in the Glushkovsky district, on Russian territory.
«The Ukrainian army controls approximately 90 square kilometers of the Glushkovsky district in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, and this is part of our preventive actions in response to a potential enemy offensive,» Syrskiy added.
