As a result of recent repatriation efforts, the bodies of 1200 fallen soldiers have been returned to Ukraine.
The Russian side claims that these bodies belong to Ukrainian citizens, specifically military personnel. The repatriation was carried out according to agreements made in Istanbul.
This successful operation was achieved through the collaboration of the Coordination Headquarters for POWs, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, and other security and defense structures.
Law enforcement agencies, along with MIA experts, will conduct all necessary examinations and identifications of the repatriated bodies.
We express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance.
Special thanks to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are responsible for transporting the repatriated individuals to designated state institutions and coordinating the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement representatives.
