Today marked a significant stage in the prisoner exchange: a group of critically wounded and seriously ill defenders has been freed from Russian captivity.
This exchange was made possible through the efforts of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, acting under the direction of the President of Ukraine. As a result, military personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including representatives from the Airborne Assault Forces, Naval Forces, Air Force, Territorial Defense Forces, and more, have returned home.
Among those released today are defenders from Mariupol, who had been held captive for over three years. All of them are service members who fulfilled their duty and are now returning to their homeland.
Some of these heroes were considered missing in action until today.
In total, Ukrainians who fought on various fronts - from Donetsk to Luhansk, from Kherson to Zaporizhzhia - are coming home.
The released soldiers will undergo medical examinations and receive necessary support for physical and psychological rehabilitation, as well as compensation for the time spent in captivity.
This exchange is part of a broader operation aimed at returning Ukrainian soldiers, particularly those under 25 years old or with serious injuries.
The Coordination Headquarters continues its work, and a new stage of releasing Ukrainian defenders is planned for the near future.
We are working to bring everyone home!
Glory to Ukraine!
