Today, the first phase of the prisoner exchange has taken place in Ukraine as part of the agreements reached in Istanbul.
The first group of released servicemen under the age of 25 has returned home.
This achievement is a result of the diligent efforts of the President of Ukraine, the negotiating team, and the Coordination Headquarters.
Among those released are representatives from various branches including the Navy, Ground Forces, Air Forces, and others. All released individuals hold the ranks of private and sergeant.
Some of the defenders released today were from Mariupol and had spent over three years in captivity.
This marks only the initial part of a significant exchange that will continue based on the agreements reached.
The exchange involves specific categories of prisoners, including those under 25, seriously injured, and gravely ill captives.
Efforts are also ongoing to repatriate the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers who fell while defending their homeland.
The returned defenders will receive all necessary support, have their documents restored, and receive financial compensation for the duration of their captivity. They will also undergo a medical rehabilitation course.
The 66th prisoner exchange is currently in progress. For security reasons, the final numbers of those released will be announced after the exchange process concludes.
Ukraine is consistently working towards implementing the "all for all" exchange formula across all categories.
