The gender advisor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oksana Hryhorieva, expressed her support for the reintroduction of mandatory service for women. However, she stated that Ukrainian society is not ready for the mobilization of women.
Oksana Hryhorieva shared this during the conference titled "Women at War," as reported by hromadske.
"I am in favor of reinstating mandatory service. Let these women undergo training, even abroad, with NATO's assistance. But they need to be prepared," she remarked.
Hryhorieva also emphasized that Ukrainian society is currently not ready for the compulsory mobilization of women.
"It would lead to significant protests. We have many women’s movements – political, advocacy, etc. – but there is no movement advocating for the mobilization of women," she explained.
It should be noted that Oksana Hryhorieva was appointed the first gender advisor to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2025.
Later, she stated that, in her opinion, there are currently no grounds for mandatory mobilization of women in Ukraine, as Ukrainian women have not been included in the training system and are not subject to conscription.
