The second national stage of the international Teens in AI hackathon took place in Ukraine, involving 97 countries.

Ten teams of teenagers developed innovative solutions demonstrating how artificial intelligence can tackle significant societal issues — from debunking medical myths to combating gender stereotypes and enhancing educational accessibility. Participants came from all over Ukraine, from Lviv to Kharkiv.

«Artificial intelligence is a reality we live in today. Technology is infiltrating every sector and helping solve critical issues in education, healthcare, and governance. It is essential not just to observe these changes but to actively create them in Ukraine. The Teens in AI hackathon is an opportunity for our youth to realize their ideas and become part of the AI revolution», said the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation Mykhailo Fedorov.

The hackathon participants presented solutions for predicting epidemics, improving access to education in remote areas, providing mental health support for students, and text-to-speech services for individuals with visual impairments.

In the week leading up to the hackathon, participants attended various workshops and lectures to learn from experts in artificial intelligence, programming, ethics, sustainable development, and design thinking.

«This hackathon has proven once again that participants are not just generating ideas but creating real products that can enhance educational quality and address socially significant issues. The winners impressed us with their innovative approaches, integrating elements of gender equality and combating misinformation. It is particularly gratifying to see solutions utilizing the “All-Ukrainian Online School”, which can achieve a new level of personalization through AI», noted the Deputy Minister of Education Dmytro Zahorodniy.

The winners included:

  1. HARBOUR SEALS from the «New Technologies in Education Lyceum» in Kropyvnytskyi. Their site Equilla helps identify gender discrimination and misinformation in social media posts, providing alternative gender-neutral comments.
  2. PL_KPI from the KPI Polytechnic Lyceum. The team created an interactive learning AI platform EmoPuzzle for children with autism, facilitating emotional understanding and communication.
  3. Inferno from the «Scientific Change Lyceum» in Kyiv. The Pure Mind platform enables users to create notes and tests based on videos from the «All-Ukrainian Online School», with personalized features.

The Equilla project will represent Ukraine in the international stage of the hackathon, where 97 countries will compete. Ten teams will reach the finals and participate in the Global Demo Day.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, with support from the Lviv IT Cluster and TechMagic.
