Google has implemented new restrictions for users utilizing its free artificial intelligence tools. According to 9to5Google, the number of available image generations in the Nano Banana Pro model has been cut from three to two per day. The company explained that this decision stems from a surge in demand for the feature, noting that limits may change daily.
Changes have also affected Gemini 3 Pro. Following its launch on November 18, users without a subscription were guaranteed 5 free queries per day, reflecting the terms of the previous version, Gemini 2.5 Pro. Now, free access is classified as basic, and the number of daily queries may fluctuate based on load.
For those using paid plans like Google AI Pro and AI Ultra, the conditions remain unchanged — 100 and 500 queries per day, respectively.
Similar restrictions have been implemented by other companies as well; for instance, OpenAI delayed the launch of the image generator in ChatGPT for free users due to overwhelming popularity but later made it available.
