ChatGPT has received a significant update to its voice mode – it is now integrated directly into the main chat, allowing users to interact with the chatbot without switching screens. This improvement makes the interaction more intuitive and seamless.
Previously, activating voice mode would redirect users to a separate page featuring an animated interface with mute, recording, and return-to-text buttons. In this separate mode, responses were solely voice-based and not visible on the screen. If a response was missed, users had to exit the mode to read it.
Now, everything changes. During voice conversations, users can simultaneously see responses on the screen: text, images, maps, and other elements will appear in real-time, making the communication experience more coherent and logical.
Switching between voice and text within a conversation has become easier – just click the "Finish" button to return to the standard input mode.
The new voice mode is now set as the default and is gradually being rolled out in the web version and mobile applications of ChatGPT.
Users who prefer the old separate interface can still revert back to it: a new "Voice Mode" option has been added in the settings, allowing users to activate the "Separate mode" feature, providing flexibility in interaction format.
