In October, Starlink sent notifications to users of outdated software, urging them to update their systems by November 17, 2025. Those who ignore these warnings may find their equipment inoperable.
According to the support page, users are divided into two groups:
- clients who must connect their Starlink terminal to the power grid by November 17, or their equipment will be permanently disabled;
- clients who need to connect their Starlink terminal and perform a software update. Starting November 18, their equipment will not have Internet access until the update is completed.
Only users who received an email or in-app notification should take these actions. Each message includes a Starlink identifier that specifies which units need updating.
If your email has the subject "Attention! Connect your Starlink terminal to the power grid for a critical update," place the unit outside and connect it to the power grid; clear sky visibility is not mandatory. You can track the update process in the app, which will take 15 to 30 minutes.
If your email has the subject "Attention! Update your software," please follow these steps:
- Turn on Starlink (no need to take it outside);
- connect to an existing Wi-Fi network and open the app;
- Update the Starlink terminal in the app using the "Manual Update" option;
- click "Update Now" and do not close the app or disconnect from Wi-Fi during this process.
Software version 2024.05.0 is critical for download capabilities. Units with versions below 2024.05.0 cannot download updates and must be connected to power and aimed at the sky to receive the necessary software.
Units with versions between 2024.05.0 and 2024.12.26 can download updates via the app.
