Hexagon has announced the launch of the AEON industrial robot, developed in partnership with NVIDIA. This robot aims to automate various processes in manufacturing, logistics, and transportation.
AEON trained in the NVIDIA Isaac Sim virtual environment, allowing it to quickly master fundamental movement and manipulation skills in a matter of weeks, unlike traditional training methods that take much longer. In real-world settings, the robot operates on a Jetson Orin computer and will receive updates to IGX Thor for safe human interaction.
Moreover, AEON is integrated with the Hexagon Reality Cloud Studio platform, enabling it to automatically scan environments and objects, creating digital replicas for further analysis in the NVIDIA Omniverse. This approach allows for the creation of highly accurate digital twins without the need for local infrastructure.
In the future, AEON will be capable of performing precise manipulations, quality checks on components, equipment management, and teleoperation. Hexagon is also planning to leverage NVIDIA Isaac GR00T generative models to enhance the robot's capabilities based on simulations and human examples.
The first tests of AEON are already being prepared at highly automated enterprises.
