Microsoft has announced that participants in the Windows Insider program using the Beta Channel will soon see a new tab in their system settings, making it easier to configure the Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) feature.
A new page will be added under the “System” menu titled “Recovery”, providing access to essential options in case of Windows startup issues. Users will be able to check if QMR is enabled, how often the system checks it, and set up automatic reboots to apply updates.
"The Quick Recovery feature is designed to assist your device in recovering from common boot issues by applying fixes directly provided by Microsoft," the company stated in its blog.
The QMR feature was introduced in November 2024 to allow administrators to remotely restore Windows devices when they encounter critical errors. It automatically searches for fixes in the cloud and recovers from common failures.
This feature is based on Startup Repair and utilizes a secure Windows recovery environment with network access to find solutions via Windows Update.
